New hard lockdown: Sports Hall De Meerkamp closed until January 14

In its press conference on Saturday, December 18, the Dutch Government declared a new hard lockdown, which will take effect on Sunday, December 19, at 05:00. Due to this hard lockdown, sports venues such as De Meerkamp will be closed until January 14, 2022.

Cancellation of all activities

For badminton club Van Zijderveld the hard lockdown means that all planned activities on Sunday, December 19 will not take place. This concerns the extra training for the higher league teams in the morning and the league matches in the afternoon.
Because sports hall De Meerkamp will remain closed until at least January 14, 2022, all planned extra training hours in the Christmas vacations are also cancelled.

The hard lockdown also affects the popular Christmas youth tournament of Bc Vennewater on December 28 and 29. This youth tournament will not take place this year.

Four times gold at World Championship seniors!

Our members Georgy van Soerland-Trouwerbach and Mariëlle van der Woerdt have been unprecedentedly successful at the World Senior Badminton Championships in Huelva (Spain) from Nov. 28 to Dec. 4, 2021.
In the 45+ class, Georgy even managed to win three gold medals by winning the women's singles and then capturing gold with Gerben Bruijstens in the mixed doubles and with Marielle van der Woerdt (photo inset) in the women's doubles.

Van Zijderveld wishes you happy holidays

The new hard lockdown is a heavy blow for the upcoming holidays and New Year's Eve. We are going through an uncertain time, in which we have to try to make the best of it together. Look out for each other and stay healthy!
